A Report on the Celebration of Sri Krishna Janmashtami

 Classes - Nursery, L.Kg. & U.Kg.                                                                                              2019–2020

Sri Krishna Janmashtami is a festival of Lord Sri Krishna’s birthday. It is celebrated all over the world with great passion by all the devotees of Lord Krishna on every Ashtami of Krishna Paksh in Shravanamasa. We celebrated this festival on Friday, 23 August 2019.

According to Hindu religious epics, Sri Krishna is the eighth human incarnation of Lord Vishnu in Dwapara Yuga. He was born around 5,200 years ago in Mathura as the eighth child of Devaki and Vasudeva. His childhood illustrates many adventurous deeds and funny acts. Sri Krishna lived his life on this land to show the path of Morality, Righteousness, Love and the Intellectuality of knowledge. All these values are narrated to us through his mischief with a divine message - ‘To keep doing our duty without worrying about the result’.

The celebration area of Janmashtami was colourful with flowers and painted pots. The celebration began with the most auspicious Pooja to the sacred Govu which resembles the abode for all gods and goddesses. The Kindergarten students chanted slokas while the Govu Puja was performed. Later on, the guest and the teachers of Kindergarten lit the ceremonial

lamp to give a positive start for the celebration. The students were dressed up as little Krishnas, Radhas, Gopikas making the place of celebration a mini Brindavan.

The celebration comprised of video watching followed by group dances depicting Sri Krishna’s childhood mischief such as ‘stealing butter with his friends’, ‘troubling mother for butter’, breaking the Gopikas pots of milk’, ‘playing holi with flowers’ and the ‘Nandotsav’.

The celebration of Sri Krishna Janmashtami carried joy and the feeling of unity among the students of kindergarten. The interactive and enjoyable presentations with information about Sri Krishna’s mischief made the celebration of Janmashtami an interesting and a delightful occasion for the tiny tots.
