15 August is the most memorable day for every Indian and it has been celebrated all over India as a national festival since 1947 with great zeal. Our mother India was freed from the iron clutches of the British slavery on 15th August 1947 after a long struggle for 200 years by millions of Indian patriots. It is our prime duty to salute those freedom fighters with gratitude and serve mother India with patriotism, commitment and honesty to bring glory to her.

Our school celebrated the 72nd Independence Day in our school premises on Wednesday, 15 August 2018 with great love and respect to the country. We invited our VAG India Trust Chairman Sri K. Channappa as the chief guest to grace the occasion. The VAG Army student secretary Abhishek Patil warmly welcomed the chief guest Sri. K. Channappa, the chief of our school Mr. K. Anil Babu, the principal Mr. K. Anil Kumar to the dais. Besides, he welcomed cordially the teaching and non-teaching staff, students and the parents of Dream World School for the celebration.

The programme was begun with the speech given by FSSA Leader Krishna Saket S. about the importance of Independence Day in brief. Later, our Chairman Sri. K. Channappa unfurled the National flag which flew humbly in the sky. The gathering saluted the National flag by singing the National Anthem and the   National Song with great adoration. This was followed by a march-past by students to the beat of drum in contingents of Puma, Cheetah, Jaguar and Panther houses.

Further, Shree Raksha, the student of class 9, addressed the gathering with a speech on the importance of National Pledge. It was followed by taking an oath of the National Pledge by the VAG Army student secretary Harshith Nambur, teachers and the students to inculcate patriotism, unity, responsibility and to realize the vision of New India.

Then, our chief guest Shri K. Channappa inspired the students of the school with his remarkable words saying to serve the nation with sincere efforts. Afterwards, the group dance performed by Bhavya Sahiti and her team of class 8 for the backdrop of a motivational song about national integration pleased all of us.

Later on, three students of class 9 delivered their motivational and emotional speeches on this occasion. Saanvi S. Konde gave a speech in English about the freedom fighter Bina Das. The speech in Kannada given by Riya R. Ganji about Aacharya Vinobha Bhave, the great patriot, was very heart touching. Bhaswathi Choudary presented the gathering in Hindi about another freedom fighter Govind Vallabh Pant, an architect. All the speeches filled the entire arena with the spirit of nationalism. At last, the ‘Lazims Display’ performed by girls of class 8 was fabulous.

In the end of the programme, boiled sprouts and milk was given to everyone who attended the celebration. Thus, the celebration was rejoiced and manifested the significance of Independent India.
