Centre II Centre Festival 1 Date : 24 July 2026
Dance is one of the oldest and most beautiful forms of art that reflects the culture, traditions, and heritage of a country. South Indian dance forms are known for their graceful movements, colourful costumes, expressive gestures, and devotional themes. These dance forms help preserve India's rich cultural heritage and inspire young learners to appreciate the beauty of art and tradition.
On Friday, 24th July 2026, the Foundation Centre II organised a Centre Festival on the theme "South Indian Dance Forms." The main objective of the festival was to introduce students to the rich cultural heritage of South India through its classical dance traditions and to encourage them to appreciate the diversity of Indian art and culture.
The Centre Festival was held in the school quadrangle, which was beautifully decorated with a magnificent cut-out of Nataraja and elegant temple bells, representing the culture of South India. The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp before the idol God Ganesha, followed by a melodious prayer song presented by a group of students.
The programme showcased the beauty and uniqueness of various South Indian dance forms such as Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, and Yakshagana. Students performed graceful dances, short skits, and informative presentations highlighting the origin, costumes, expressions, and significance of each dance form. A PowerPoint presentation with engaging visuals and videos further enhanced the students' understanding of these traditional art forms. The exhibition displayed colourful costumes, musical instruments, ornaments, and informative charts, while interactive activities enabled students to learn more about the rich cultural heritage of South India.
The Centre Festival was a grand success in creating awareness among students about the importance of preserving and respecting India's cultural traditions. It also provided a wonderful platform for students to showcase their talents, develop confidence, improve their communication and presentation skills, and overcome stage fear through enthusiastic participation in various cultural activities..
