The
Ganesh festival is celebrated on every Bhadrapada
Shukla Chavithi in India. This year, 27 students of classes IX and X of our
school celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with great devotion to seek the
blessings of Lord Vighneshwara.
Idol making:In
our school, Ganesh festival begins with making of eco-friendly Ganesha idols with
clay, after the working hours of our school, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Our Fine
Arts teacher Mr. Manjunatha Goud made an eco-friendly Ganesha idol of three
feet of height with clay for the school.
Ganesh Puja:
We
celebrated Ganesha Chaturthi on Thursday, 13.09.2018. On this day, we started
Ganesh puja at 7:15 a.m. in the
guidance of Sri. K. Nagaraj Bhat, the priest and the manager of ‘Shri Krishna
Mandir’, Kappagal Road, Ballari. The student participants worshipped to the
Ganesha idol made by them. On behalf of our school, our kannada teachers Mr.
Diwakar and Mr. Mahendra and
our chief Mr. K. Anil Babu along with his family performed Ganesh puja to the Ganesha idol made for the
school. This puja programme was
organised in the seminar hall of our school. We worshipped Lord Ganesha with
devotion and offered sincere prayers to Him in accordance with veda mantras
chanted by the priest. Some of our well wishers, and Pragyana wing teacher Mr.
Shashidhara attended the puja to seek
His blessings.
After
the shodasa puja to Ganesha, the
priest briefed us about the importance of celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi
and why it is so customary to begin every occasion with the blessings of Lord
Ganesha, who removes all obstacles. The priest conveyed us many things which
imbibe values and ethics in us.
He
told us the story of Syamantaka Mani through
which we came to know that Lord Krishna saw Chandra, the moon on the day of Bhadrapada Shukla Chavithi as a result
he was blamed and dishonored by the people for the things he had not done.
Krishna put an end to the evil rumours by proving his honesty. Then Krishna
worshipped Ganesh on Vinayaka Chaturthi
to avoid future curses. He
also explained the importance of panchamrutha.
Milk is for the blessing of purity and piousness; Yogurt is for prosperity and
progeny; Honey is for sweet speech; Ghee is for victory; Sugar is for happiness.
Later,
we worshipped cows by performing puja
and made pradakshina around the cows
which are reared in our school. The puja
programme is ended with the distribution of Prasadam
sponsored by Ms. Ashwini, the assistant staff, and by Mr. Ravi Shankar the well
wisher of our school. The Prasadam
was served to all the devotees. This programme was ended around 10:40 a.m. on
that day.
We
believe that worshipping of God Ganesha purifies our mind and promotes good
thoughts. Also, by performing puja we
develop discipline, concentration, devotion and calmness in our lives. We
hope that this Ganesh puja pleases
Him and brings prosperity and happiness in every one’s life.
