A REPORT ON FSSA WEEK 2019-2020

Self-confidence is the first step towards success. If you believe it, you can achieve it. This was said by Tommy Lasorda. In school curriculum, education is partial without sports. Sports and physical activities are very important and it has to be encouraged, as the students gain various skills, experiences and confidence that help in developing their personality. Sports build and maintain energy, strength which improves the physical fitness, mental sharpness and enhances the mood. It also helps to socialize, build time sense, improve the cooperative skills, boosts self-confidence for grasping opportunities and facing the failures..

The primary goal of organising the FSSA WEEK (Sports Week) in our school is to encourage students to take part in the sports events. Sports also make students to learn the values such as acceptance, tolerance, confidence, teamwork, leadership, importance of hard work and determination.

This academic year, FSSA WEEK was organised from 22nd November to 7th December 2019. On 22nd November the students from Classes Nursery to Tenth were gathered on the school ground for the inaugural ceremony. Our Principal Ms. Parimala C.M inaugurated the FSSA WEEK by lighting the kindle and releasing the pigeons as a symbol of peace. Students of Classes VI to X performed March Past as a mark of respect.

Inauguration of FSSA week had a package of drills and dances by our students. Variety of drills were performed by the students like the drill using ribbon by the UKG students, the drill using umbrella by classes I and II, the formation drill using colourful cloths of their respective houses by classes III and IV, the Olympic ring line formation drill by class V. We had two dance performances – one using the dandia sticks by classes VI and VII, while the other was by the girls of classes IX and X. These performances added charm to the inaugural ceremony

The students from Classes Nursery to tenth took part in different events organised according to their age level. It is compulsory for the students of Classes nursery to IV to take part in the events organised for them, where as choice was given to the students of classes V to X to take part in any three events (field and track together). FSSA week 2019-2020 introduced skipping as the fourth optional event for classes V to X. Students can take part in it based on their capability.

Students competed enthusiastically with sportsmen spirit in all the events. On Saturday, 30th November 2019, the finals for the field and track events was organised. Parents were also invited to watch and encourage their wards competing in the finals. Throw Ball match was organised between the female staff of the school and mothers, Gilli Danda match was organised between the male staff of the school and fathers. Both the matches grabbed the attention and excitement of the audience. On Friday and Saturday, 6th and 7th December 2019 respectively, the most awaiting Inter-house team games were played with great team spirit.  All the winners of the FSSA Week will be awarded on the VAG Annual Awards Day.

The FSSA Week went on with the full-fledged enthusiasm, competitive spirit and liveliness among the students, hoping to carry forward the zeal and sportsmen spirit with more creativity in the years to come.
