Class-I Field Trip
‘Guru Poornima’ is celebrated in India as a tribute to Gurus. Guru Poornima is basically the festival of ‘seekers’ who seek the divine knowledge from their Gurus. Guru is one who dispels the darkness of ignorance in his disciples. Guru is one who knows God and who shows the way to Him. ‘Guru Poornima’ is traditionally celebrated by Hindus on the occasion of Maharshi Veda Vyasa’s birthday on every Aashada Pournami.

‘Guru Poornima’ was celebrated in the school on Tuesday, 16 July 2019 to show gratitude to our beloved guru Sri Paramahansa Yogananda with great pleasure. All the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school, all the students of classes VIII to X & a few students of classes VI & VII, interested parents and well wishers of the school took part in this programme. The celebration was initiated at 7:00 a.m. by chanting Gayatri Mantra. The guests Sri K. Channappa & Smt. K. Seshu Channappa and Dr. B.O. Satyanarayana Reddy were cordially invited to light the ceremonial lamp. The programme began with Ganesh Bhajan and included several ‘Bhajans and Skits’ that highlighted the importance of a ‘Guru’ and ‘Divinity’ as well.

On this special occasion of ‘Guru Poornima’, the teachers and students were blessed to work on Sri Paramhansa Yogananda’s teachings extracted from his books ‘Self Realization, Journey to Self Realization, Divine Romance, Auto Biography of a Yogi and How to Communicate to God’. An attempt was made to understand his teachings and they were presented to the audience in various forms such as dialogue narration and skit in a very conveying manner.

Sri Paramahansa Yogananda gave simple techniques to realize the God through meditation. Kriya Yoga is a traditional, spiritual and specific technique of meditating. So, mediation was included as a part of the program and every one meditated in two shifts for ten minutes each during the entire programme. The students of classes VIII to X sang Bhajans rhythmically and sincerely to honour and worship Guru – Sri Paramahansa Yogananda.

The programme was ended by offering ‘Aarti’ and the ‘Pranaam’ to ‘Guru’. The programme was concluded at about 9:00 a.m. Later on, the school functioned with its timetable as usual. All participants and teachers had break-fast, arranged by school and then they attended their regular classes.

One ought to realize that one can lead a happy life by meditating, trusting Guru and seeking the blessings of Sri Paramahansa Yogananda.
