An
Orientation on ‘Life Skills and Phonetics’ 2018-2019
On Saturday, 1st December
2018 our school organised an orientation programme on ‘Life Skills and Phonetics’ for teachers of Dream World and Shasvid
kindergarten from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at our school premises. It was
conducted by CBSE authorised trainer Ms. Sapna Sankhla from Oxford University
Press. She shared her knowledge with our teachers to improve communication with
the right pronunciation skills and spellings through different activities.
The session started with an introduction activity, where the teachers were
asked to discuss with five people around them to understand them in better way
and take the autograph of them. By this activity teachers explored the hidden
traits of each other. The session continued with an ice breaking activity where
all the teachers were supposed to introduce themselves with alliteration before
their names.
As English is a foreign
language and has got unstructured rules, everyone should gain sufficient
knowledge with good practice and efforts. Ms. Sapna Sankhla also explained briefly
on pronunciation of different words through anatomy of mouth. She also encouraged
teachers to identify the common errors done by themselves in their spellings through
the test of dictation. She motivated everyone by emphasising that there is no
age and time limit for learning of any language.
Since pronunciation of words is a very important factor in any language,
so there was a group activity conducted in which a handout was given with
different phonemes to each group. Each group presented different words for each
phoneme with correct pronunciation.
The session ended with the opinion of teachers about the programme and
vote of thanks. As the session was informative to all the teachers. We hope it
would be useful for them in their routine activities.
