Nature to Nature: ‘Eco-friendly Incense Sticks,
Perfume and Packing covers’
|
The purpose of inviting the students was to provide them an opportunity to interact with scientists and mentors which enables them to discuss their own ideas, to present their work and to prepare them to participate at IRIS National Fair 2018 that paves them to shine at a National and International Platform.
On Friday, 13 July 2018 the first day of
the Regional Mentorship Camp program at the Institute of Technical Education
and Research (ITER), the faculty of engineering and technology of SOA (Deemed
to be University), Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering at ITER,
Prof. Renu Sharma gave an Introductory address and motivated and fostered innovative
ideas among all students. Prof.
Amit Banerjee, Vice Chancellor, SOA gave an opening note of the occasion.
At
10:25 a.m. each student team was given five minutes time to present briefly
about respective projects in front of the SRC members. After the presentation,
the SRC members spent time with each participant to understand the ideas,
suggesting ways and means to infuse research and innovative thought processes
into their existing projects. It was an exhilarating experience for students
and teachers as well when the experts pointed out the gaps. The discussions and
suggestions continued for the whole day.
The
first discussion team was from Dream World School, Ballari on the topic ‘Nature to Nature’ (Eco-friendly
Incense Sticks, Perfume and Packing covers). Menters asked inquisitive questions and gave many
ideas and suggestions to improve the model to carry out some research work in
future. Later, another team of Dream World School, Ballari presented on the
topic Biometric and GSM
Automatic Rationing System. The SRC members were impressed with this model and discussed
with the students related for the development of the model.
The students and teachers noted down all the
valuable suggestions given by SRC members and worked on it for the next day
presentation.
On 14th July, the second day of the
camp, interactive and learning session on ‘Science and Innovation’ was
continued from 9:00 a.m.to 11: 00 a.m. by experts of SOA, Prof. Nachhiketa K.
Sharma, Prof. S.N. Bhuyan and Prof. Naresh Sahoo.
Later, a session with mentors began at 11:00 a.m. The
participants presented their projects to the SRC members after making some
changes to their models as per the suggestions and critics received from them.
The objective was to enhance the projects so that it can meet up the IRIS
standards. Ten minutes time
was given for the presentation.
At
12:30 P.M. an interactive session started on how to apply for IRIS. The programme
ended with vote of thanks by Ms Astha Sharma, Outreach Manager, IRIS and
motivated the students to come up with innovative steps to make their project
better.
It was an immense pleasure for Dream World School students to get selected
for IRIS Mentorship Camp. We thank
Mr Agam Tyagi, Outreach Team and Ms Astha Sharma, Outreach Manager for giving
all kind of support for our teams to reach such a wonderful and fruitful
mentorship camp. Our students found it as an opportunity to learn and develop
skills like craftwork, model work (origami) and to explore and express their
creative ideas.
