Ganesh Nimajjan
The Hindu
festival Ganesh Chaturthi is also
known as Vinayaka Chaturthi. It is the
birthday of Lord Ganesha celebrated throughout India with a great devotion.
Lord Ganesha is the elephant-headed son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The school
celebrated Ganesha Chaturthi on
Thursday, 13.9.2018 to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha.
The uniqueness
of this festival is that the devotees worship Ganesha’s sculpture made of clay
and, after puja the diety will be submerged into (flowing) water on the same
day or on 3rd or 5th or 7th or 9th day and so
on. And this course of holy action is called Ganesha Visarjan or Ganesha
Nimajjana. During Ganesha Nimajjana procession,
playing with different colour powders and dancing according to drum beats with
great devotion is a custom for the devotees of Lord Ganesha. On this occasion, our
school students, staff, parents, passed out students and well wishers celebrated
the Ganesha Nimajjana utsav grandly
in our school premises on Saturday, 15.9.2018, the third day from Ganesh Chaturthi.
On Saturday, 15.9.2018 at
2:00 p.m. the students of Class 1 to Class 10 took part class wise in the dancing
programme in front of Lord Ganesha sculptures that were performed puja in our school. The students of each
class and respective teachers amused the gathering with their hip hop movements
for the songs played. The chief of our school Mr. K. Anil Babu led the
celebration elegantly and also joined to dance with all his beloved students. They
applied powders with different colours during the celebration. All the
participants enthused with one another cheerfully. It was continued till 4:30
p.m.
Later, the
deities made of clay were immersed in a tub filled with water. This water was then
poured into the plants of our school campus. We believe that this is the best
way of Ganesha Nimajjana by giving
him back to nature. It is a belief that after immersion, Lord Ganesha returns
to Mount Kailasha to his parents Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Every devotee
has to promote this concept of eco-friendly celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi in order to
protect the environment. We hope that Lord Ganesha would bless all of us with wisdom,
prosperity and good fortune.
