Pravachana on
Srimad Bhagavad Gita
Classes: VIII – X 2018-2019
An
orientation programme on ‘Srimad Bhagavad Gita’ was organized in our school to
implant consciousness of God and ethical values of our culture for the students
of classes VIII to X. The programme was conducted from Monday, 20 August 2018
to Saturday, 25 August 2018 at one-hour duration on all six days, addressed by Pujya
Swami Shantivratanandaji Maharaj, a monk of Ramakrishna Order.
At
present, Pujya Swamiji renders his service at Ramakrishna
Institute of Moral and Spiritual Education, B. Ed. College, Mysuru. Swamiji is a
versatile genius. He can speak Sanskrit, Kannada, English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil
and Bengali fluently.
Srimad
Bhagavad Gita is the noble and the holy book for all Hindus. The Gita is set in
a narrative framework of a dialogue between Pandava prince Arjuna and his guide
and charioteer Sri Krishna. Bhagavad Gita is the philosophy of life and action
composed by Vedavyasa. It contains 18
chapters with 700 shlokas. It was made famous by Adi Shankaracharya.
Pujya Swamiji enlightened
us from ignorance to wisdom in the medium of Srimad Bhagavad Gita, often
referred to as the Gita. He oriented us about the importance of studying Srimad
Bhagavad Gita. He said clearly that there were solutions in this book to all
our life problems that we were facing. He explained the inner meaning of each
word of each sloka of the first two chapters of Gita to our students very
lucidly and understandably. His teachings were based on experience and true
spirit of religious scripture. His teachings filled a lot of inspiration to
imbibe good qualities within us.
‘‘To take up the best change in our life we
need to take a better choice. A student’s duty is to have thirsty for gaining
knowledge. To become famous and popular our goal is important. We should never
lose self-confidence in ourselves. So that one day, one can become a great
person in 1000 people. And this is not possible alone with our sincere efforts,
but by reading, understanding, analysing, and by practical implementation of ‘Srimad
Bhagavad Gita’ in our life’’, Swamiji said. “Our thoughts, habits, tradition
and culture make our India healthy and dynamic”, Swamiji added.
Swamiji
said, “There is no death for soul and none can destroy soul. Our indriyas
cannot identify our soul. For every 1000 people one will ask about soul, a few
people try to know about soul but only one person may understand about soul. We
should not have egoness in ourselves. We should always be respectful to all our
elders and gurus. We should practice dharma
(righteousness) both internally and externally”.
Swamiji’s narrations were
clear and effective. We are lucky to have such a wonderful explanation over
each sloka. He motivated us in such a manner as Sri Krishna motivated Arjuna in
the field of war. And now, he motivated the students of classes VIII to X who
are in the War Zone of academic education.
We are very thankful to Swamiji
for accepting our invitation to deliver the pravachanam
on the Gita in order to educate us. His presence was a special blessing for
all of us.
